People's Telephone Co. was incorporated on February 25, 1964. On May 15, 1997 Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company purchased the company. As of January 2005, People's Telephone Co. serves 1,231 residential customers, 244 business and provides Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service to 171. Almost 1,000 Advanced Services such as Customer Calling Features, Caller ID and Voice Mail are provided also.
People's is able to provide its customers basic local service, long distance, and Internet, wireless communications. The Company is investing in the future by exploring new technologies such fiber optics, wireless broadband and video services.
